About Me

I began teaching piano as a high school student and have continued teaching through the years, including teaching my own children. When one of my babies was just 18 months old, she wanted me to teach her to play the piano like the other kids.  What in the world could I teach such a small person with such tiny fingers that she could actually remember and play again and again? I thought there must be some fun program available that could teach a little person musical skills. It was around that time that I heard about Let's Play Music. It's the perfect thing for young minds. I have loved how seamless the process of learning music is with all 3 programs and I am amazed at the many skills that students learn including  singing in tune, transposing, composing, solfege, ear training, pitch training (finding middle C out of thin air) sight reading, chord theory, playing both hands on the piano while looking at the book (melody in the right hand, chords in the left) self accompanying etc. Its incredible what students learn through the Let's Play Music programs!

Besides teaching and playing music (piano and voice are my main instruments) I love organizing, reading, exercising (its what I got my Bachelor's degree in) walking in the rain, playing games with my kids (Skyjo and Splendor are our current favorites) running errands with my husband and throwing things away--I know its weird. If I weren't a music teacher, I'd probably be a professional declutterer ; )  I am happy to answer any and all of your questions. Feel free to call me even if I'm not currently taking new students.
